Cellar Clear Out Dinner at Barnsteiner's

Tuesday, May 16th, 2017

On occasion, Toronto Vintners Club offers its members an occasion to enjoy its surplus collection of premium vintage wines with a gourmet dinner prepared by one of Toronto’s foremost chefs. Our “Bin End Dinner” or “Cellar Clear Out” helps use up single and double bottle leftover from past tastings to create space for future events. As a result, you have an opportunity to dine well and drink some sensational wines with food. Our loss is always your gain!

Barnsteiner's Restaurant is a fitting place to hold a wine dinner event in view of Chef and co-proprietor, Herbert Barnsteiner’s culinary experience. He spent 8 years gaining extensive experience in some of Europe’s top restaurants and hotels in Switzerland and Germany including a 2-star Michelin restaurant in The Black Forest, Hotel Bareiss. After immigrating to Canada and landing in Toronto, Herbert held top positions starting at Movenpick, then onto trendy Acqua, then was the Executive Chef for two years at the popular Jump restaurant. Herbert and his wife Michelle, who manages the front of house, then ventured out on their own and operated the popular Corner House restaurant in Toronto for fifteen years. Their latest endeavour – Barnsteiner's, named after the proprietors - features refined dishes made using traditional German, French, Spanish and Northern Italian recipes served in a contemporary, art-accented setting. Barnsteiner's has been consistently rated by patrons in the Top 9 restaurants of Toronto.

Our dinner will feature a 4-course menu of seafood, pasta, meat and dessert to be paired with the array of wines from our cellar. (Menu is being finalized). You’ll start with a glass of Prosecco on reception and then sit down to enjoy gourmet dishes prepared by the Chef, accompanied by wines from our cellar. See next page for a list of the wines which we’ll be hauling out. You can see from the list on the next page that one bottle of most of these wines would easily set you back $100-$300 or more if you bought them from a restaurant’s wine list!

We’re sure you’ll find something fabulous to rave about and there is plenty of exceptional wine to go around. We have allowed the equivalent of 1 bottle per person over the course of the evening as part of this deal plus the Prosecoo. That’s a lot of wine, so please use public transit!!!

If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know on the registration form and we will pass your information to the restaurant. Alternatively, if you wish to contact us before buying tickets, call 416-209-1442 or email chris@torontovintners.org.

Tables seat 4 – 6 and are on a first come basis. The start time is 6:30 PM. Capacity is 85 people. Reserve early! Closest subway stop: Yonge & St. Clair. “Green P Parking” is available on Rosehill Ave. 1 short street away, just North/East of Barnsteiner’s but please take public transit!
